Ram Navami is a festival of lord Ram.
Ram Navami is a hindu spiritual festival celebrated on the occasion of birth of lord Rama to the king Dasharatha of Ayodhya, a city situated on the banks of sarayu river.
Lord Ram was the eldest son of King Dasharatha and Kaushalya. King Dasharatha had 3 wives Kaushalya, kaikeyi, Sumitra.

Ram Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of Chaitra month (It is the the first month in the Hindu lunar calendar).
Lord Ram is considered as the seventh Avatar of lord Vishnu. Lord Ram is the hero of Ramayana, the Hindu mythological sanskrit epic. Ramayana was first written by Valmiki in sanskrit and later on translated in hindi by Tulsidas
Traditions of Ram Navami
On the occasion of Ram Navami, the house is cleaned up and the family members decorate the home temple, perform chanting and than Aarti is performed.
In temples, bhajans are performed and than Aarti is celebrated, Prasad is prepared and distribute to everyone and festival is celebrated very happily. Ram Navami is celebrated differently in different parts of the country.
About Lord Ram
Lord Ram was the seventh Avatar of lord Vishnu. He had 3 younger brothers Lakshman, Bharath, Shatrughan.Lord Ram married to Devi Sita daughter of King Janaka of Mithila.
According to Ramayana, lord Ram was born to end the sufferings of the innocent people and to end Ravana, king of Lanka.
Lord Ram went to "Vanvash" for 14 long years with his wife "Devi Sita" and younger brother "Lakshmana" to fulfill the choice of mother kaikeyi. Lord Ram is considered as the"Maryada Purushottam".
